This site is intended to provide you with information about Internet copyright infringement. We feel that if we can educate you about the implications of continuing with this activity, and the dangers of file sharing, you will make better choices about your online activity. This page provides UC Irvine students, staff, and faculty with more information about illegal file sharing and with alternative resources for legal downloading. You will find several links to finding legal online music, movies and other electronic content.

Although it may be tempting, illegally downloading and sharing music or movie files violates United States Copyright law and University policy. The consequences can be severe. Educate yourself about the law and your download sources. Fortunately, there have been a growing number of RIAA/MPAA-approved options for music and video streaming and downloading. A few of the services are listed below.

And remember, if you're not paying something for a movie download service, it is simply a gateway to peer to peer network and is very likely the provider is not licensed to distribute the movie or video and that downloading constitutes a copyright infringement.

We aim to make your move-in experience wonderful. Your check-in begins before you arrive on campus. Please review all move-in information including what do do before you arrive, on move-in day, and after check-in. Make a plan for weather, parking, and unpacking to make your day as smooth as possible! We encourage each student to download the UCF mobile app before arriving on campus.

Why do I need ESET Antivirus Software? Laptops become susceptible to viruses from file sharing, downloading full movies and simply from browsing the web. While it is generally true that PC's have a higher chance of falling victim to viruses, there are dangerous Mac-oriented malware hazards as well. As a result of being hacked by malware, all saved work on your device may be erased, and personal information may be stolen.

We are excited to welcome you to campus housing at the University of Arizona! To help make your transition to college life as smooth as possible, please return to this page often and check your email regularly!

Please complete your Pre-Arrival Online Check-In in My UAHome. This process is where you'll choose your Move-In day and time, review and agree to our Policies & Procedures for Dorm Living, and tell us some final information. You can also download and print your unloading dash pass. Online Check-In must be completed before you arrive on campus. This helps to ensure things go quickly when you arrive at your dorm to check-in.

While traditional college students who depend on campus networks for Internet access may, as the RIAA claims, get more of their music from P2P downloading than the general population, the size of the denominator of this college student population -- perhaps some 2 to 2.5 million full-time undergraduates who reside in college dorms and who depend on campus networks for Internet access -- pales when compared to the tens of millions of consumers who purchase broadband services from cable and telecommunications companies such as AT&T, Comcast, Earthlink, TimeWarner and Verizon.

These numbers notwithstanding, the RIAA has not pursued consumer broadband providers on the copyright/downloading issue. When I raised this issue with an RIAA official in fall 2004, I was told, in essence, that the consumer broadband providers view litigation as a cost of doing business, while, in contrast, the RIAA knows that colleges and universities, when presented with the threat of litigation, will "jump."

The RIAA's singleminded focus on college students -- and easily inferred threats to campus officials -- misses the larger issue: Digital piracy is a consumer market problem, not simply a campus issue.

The college is operating primarily in-person with some student services only available virtually on Fridays. Fall and winter student athletic teams have also returned to playing on campus for home games.

Note: Masks are still required indoors on campus. Students who return to campus for instruction or any in-person service will need to download the Foothill app and complete a self-assessment daily, along with following all COVID-19 Health & Safety Protocol and Guidelines, including proof of vaccination or request for exemption requirements.

Preparations for the gradual re-opening of campus are led by students, faculty, staff, and administrators and follow the Foothill-De Anza District, state and county guidelines. The college developed guiding principles to steer deliberations. We are prioritizing the return of students, faculty, and staff before we open the campus to the general community.
